remove the grass(not block - just grass) and wait for mushroom. To increase chance, do it for several grass blocks.

Find ore, smelt it in the furnace and you have ingots. I don’t think that is what you mean, but, if you need ores, just dig very deep down.

Energy crystals are just a little level lower than the gold level. Just mine deeper. If you see a shining blue light coming from a cracked, blue-ish ore, you have found it. Mine it using an iron pickaxe or something higher than that. It does not need to be smelted.

I´m out of energy crystal in my main game, so I tried a new one and the layer of crystal beginns around the underground labor by me. Just find gold and then digg lower to blu shining dots in stones.
