I know this topic is a little old and unactive by now, but I would like to share that I recently got certain interest on DC comics. I always had some connection with DC universe, but I liked more to consume movies and videogames of DC, however I recently encountered this game “Injustice” and got fascinated, as it talks of a different universe from the main DC timeline where (SPOILER) the Joker made Superman kill his girlfriend Loise by hallucinations, and for that, Superman kills the Joker, after that, Superman creates a regime which rules the world and is conformed with many heros and even some villains, the objetive of this regime is to kill the worst criminals, however Batman is against this regime (beacuse he believes killing never is good) and forms a resistance, conformed by some heros and villains too. That would be the contextualization of the game scenario. The injustice was a big project which story is conformed by two games, some comics and movies, these comics relate the events before the game, and the perspective of certain characters of this story. What I like about Injustice story, is that it relates a scenario where the DC heros make things that doesn´t seem like hero´s acts, things that in the main DC timeline they would never do, and in the same time they give us a different perspective about most villains, they show us that they have deep motivations, as deep as the character writing, they show us that heros aren´t perfect, for example with Damian Wayne (Robin/Nightwing) or Superman. Injustice also shows us an interesting discussion, about if killing or not killing criminals, one can argue that killing criminals just leads to worse things, that fear and tiranny just leads to more criminals, actually almost all Injustice 2 villains are caused by Superman regime, and in the other hand, one can argue that criminals will keep killing or doing things that you could think are bad if they are not killed, just like one dialogue between Batman and Joker in Injustice 2 that says “Joker: if you killed me, millions of lives could have survived! Batman: that´s on you, not me. Joker: keep telling that to yourself.” which you can think if it´s right or not. The importance of Joker in this story is very big; very powerfull characters, such as Brainiac or Darkseid, that are stronger than Superman, couldn´t win against the justice league, meanwhile a simple human with no powers is the only who did actually win, how did he win if he died? a dialogue in the game says this “Joker: don´t you see it? I win! Superman: you died, how is that winning? Joker: I made you lose control.” The Joker objetive was to show that everyone can be corrupted, and he made the most correct man to become a monster, he made the justice league fight between them. That´s why I put Joker alongside villains like Darkseid, Volthoom etc like the most dangerous villains, even with no powers, fighting against heros and villains that look like gods, his will to make the world burn is apocaliptic.
This comic really put me in interest about comics, the concepts that it offers are awesome to me!
