Hero Idea - TANGENTIAL - Tell me What you think

Tangential
AKA Tangential Engineer, Tangential Specialist, Paratech, Esoteric Specialist

Class Basis: Utilizes a wide range of highly advanced and esoteric technologies and devices. Utility Class. Specializes in manipulating the enviorment. High mobility is key. Jet pack is medicore, and land speed is on par with most utility classes.


Weapon 1: Twin Special Forces Offensensive Pistols.

  • High Kinetic-Lighting damage
  • Alt-Click to lock-on
  • Medium Fire rate, Moderate Range
  • Design is based off of Heckler & Koch USSOCOM

Weapon 2: Tangential Multitool

  • Medium Kinetic-Lightning damage
  • Alt-Click to lock-on
  • Fast Fire Rate, Melee
  • Press R to toggle a useable Tangential technology

Ability 1 (Ultimate): Access Tangential Technology.

This will bring up a selectable screen of various technologies, some of which are passive, and some of which are active. Upon the completion of a 30 second cooldown, the Tangential will be able to select a technology to activate. Each time he opens this menue before dieing, he may equip one more passive technology, capping at 5. Once he reaches this cap, he may switch these out upon the completion of the 30 second cooldown. In addition to selecting 5 passive technologies he may select 1 active technology, and may toggle the use of this technology by using the Tangential Mutitool. Upon dieing, the Tangential is reverted to one slot, and must regain the other 5.

Possible technologies:

Line of sight teleportation (A)
Spectral Optics §
Side switch (A) (Target one subject, that subject will temporarily swtich teams.)
Health Aura §
Curse (A) (Halve the health a of an enemy)

Ability 2 (Melee): Cleanse

Removes Debuffs and heals a small amount of health.

Bomb: Spatio-Temporal Disruptor

Bomb deals large amounts of damage and freezes the target in place.

If this hero gets created, I’d like to get it for free.

good, but it needs to have it’s own abilities not other heroes abilities

and it’s not fair to have 5 different technologies activatable cuz you choose them depending on the situation while other heroes can’t do that. they have 3 abilities. this hero can’t be created in the game…

  1. what’s the difference between kinetic lightning and bullets? is there some special effect or is it purely visual?

  2. there’s a 0% chance that anyone would ever actually play for the other team knowing that they’d eventually have to switch back to the team they were just killing people on.

  3. for a utility/support class, they seem to have awfully high-damage, high-accuracy weapons.

  4. is the multitool a melee or a gun? i don’t think having both would work.

  5. really, 6 possible “technologies”? why not just make them abilities or a bomb with random effects? you’re essentially giving tangent 8 abilities instead of 3.

  6. i don’t think tangential thinks what you think it means.

  7. i like the possibility of manipulating the environment - that could be a good way to get players to pay attention to how cool the maps are.

  8. another support is always nice.

  9. gosh, more lock-on? on one hand, i like it because it’ll annoy blaster players. on the other hand, i don’t like it because it might become the new blaster.
