The 2016 Game Development Contest is here and we have had some amazing submissions so far from various categories. Below are all our current submissions and as we get more we will make sure to add them here!
4 eggs sake!
4 eggs sake! is an easter style 3D game built on WebGL. The game is still in its alpha stage and your objective is to collect points by clearing the path for the Bunny-Egg as it goes down the path. Click on the trash to remove roadblocks in order to collect points! Also, make sure to not be distracted by the rings or you might just crash into a roadblock and have to collect all your points again.
PortalRunner
PortalRuner is a 3D portal game built with HTML 5. In this game, you play as a mage who has the ability to cast portals to avoid obstacles that are in his path. The mage casts one entry portal and the second portal is where the mage will be teleported. The game is very similar to that of Portal and Portal 2 both of which are produced by Valve.
20xx Bounty Hunter
20xx Bounty Hunter is an old style Arcade shooter built with HTML 5 where you play as a man on a flying machine and you have to fly around shooting at various targets. Your objective is to rack up points, travel through portals, and defeat the minions of various bosses. Try and see if you can collect all the achievements and top the high score chart!
The Time is Broken
The Time is Broken is an engaging jump-puzzle like game built with flash where you play as a scientist and you need to collect clocks (Which represent fragments of time) by jumping to various platforms. As you collect them there will be shadows of yourself jumping in the past areas. You need to avoid touching it or you will cause a time paradox and the game will end.
Time Hotel
Time Hotel is a survival game built on flash where you are trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. You need to travel up the floors and defeat the boss so you can escape the horde. If you fail no worries you will rewind back to the beginning up to 5 times and each time you do your past selves will clear the way for you. You might find yourself stuck the first time so don’t worry.
Maps & Traps
Maps & Traps is a puzzle game built on flash where you are trying to collect the diamonds without running into the traps. The trick is you have to memorize the location of the traps before the start out of each round and then make sure to avoid them or you will have to start back at the beginning of said round. There are also 40 levels to go through so get to memorizing.
Time Splicers
Time splices is an engaging flash game where you have to destroy drones on two parts of the same map. Sounds confusing because it is. You have a portal on both sides where you have to shoot and destroy drones as they come towards your base on either side. Luckily you can both travel and shoot bullets through the portal to destroy the drones.
Easter Island Paradox
Easter Island Paradox is a strange escape-puzzle style flash game where you have to escape the map by finding the teleporter and getting their quickly.The teleporter is not particularly hard to find the real trick is doing it faster than everyone else to get the high score. If you are looking for a speed challenge then East Island Paradox seems to bring it in terms of competition.
Portal Runner
Portal Runner is a running game built with flash where you have to run and collect coins to increase your score. You also have to run across platforms, and avoid obstacles by teleporting to their location. The important thing is to avoid wasting your teleport so make sure to use it when you know there are no obstacles in close proximity and make sure to time your shots.
Rapid Easter Rabbit
Rapid Easter Rabbit is a point collection game built with HTML 5 where you have to shoot eggs for the bunny to move. As you move make sure to collect coins so you can increase your score. This game is very difficult as the eggs tend to move in an odd behavior so make sure to delete them by right clicking if they go off a cliff.
Dimension Spy
Dimension Spy is a point collection game built with flash where you play as Greg who needs to collect power in order to build a teleporter to escape the building in each round. There are 20 rounds and each one is more and more difficult. As you progress there will be new traps and roadblocks to avoid such as robots, forcefields, and more.
Night Before Easter
Night Before Easter is an RPG style game where you play as a professor who recently went back in time and it’s Easter! He needs to find out what happened to the eggs since he has forgotten to get some. You have to help the professor find some eggs or Easter is going to be ruined!
Rocket Beast
Rocket Beast is an action style flash game where you play as a barbarian who has a rocket. You have to clear the rounds collecting meat which is the currency, and blowing up your foes. As you collect more meat you will be able to purchase upgrades for your rocket and have more rockets, bigger explosions, or how about a giant bomb? There are several upgrades in the store that you can purchase!
Return The Eggs
Return the eggs is a flash based puzzle-platformer where you play as a rabbit with a teleporter. In this game you ned to teleport the rabbit to various platforms in order to collect all the missing easter eggs. As you progress you will find that the maps will be filled with more and more dangers and will require you to place the portals quickly or the rabbit will run into a trap.
Ten Easter Eggs
Ten Easter Eggs is a flash-based puzzle game where you have to find 10 scattered easter eggs containing various items to complete the objectives. Once you find all 10 eggs you will win the match and your score is determined by the amount of time it took for you to complete. It would be a smart idea to complete the game once, remember the layout and complete it again in a speed round.
Timeloop
Timeloop is a flash-based puzzle game where you have to help a scientist escape from a time loop. You have to tell the scientist were to go by using the arrow keys. The tricky part is you need to count out the spaces because you only get one go and if you don’t count out the moves you are going to end up guessing repeatedly as you progress the maps are going to be more confusing and require more thought when planning your moves.
Crazy Easter Bunny
Crazy Easter Bunny is flash-based arcade game where you are a bunny gone crazy. You are running around eating all the chicks in an attempt to get larger and larger. The game is very similar to that of Snake in that the more you eat the larger you get and thus the harder it is to avoid the roosters from getting you. Avoid being attacked by the Roosters and try to get the highest score possible!
Easter Bunny Jumping Fun
Easter Bunny Jumping Fun is a flash based platformer where you play as a bunny that has to go and collect all of the eggs and paint them for Easter. You need to avoid obstacles, use teleporters, and even change the map in an attempt to collect all these eggs without the hunters capturing you. The game is fun and laid back for those who are wanting to play something simple to pass the time.
Mr. Timan
Mr. Timan is a flash-based puzzle game where you play as Mr. Timan it was your first day on the job after you received your promotion. After you discovered a time artifact in your new office area, your workplace went chaotic and something was clearly let loose that shouldn’t have been. Now you need to find a way to escape from this time-warped workplace.
Hunt All the Rabbit
Hunt All The Rabbit is an HTML 5 based arcade game where you have to destroy the pharaohs with electricity and try to capture your rabbit. The problem is there is no telling how many pharaohs will be released from the machine and you need to find your rabbit as quickly as possible. With simple controls and speed is the only thing necessary this is a simple game to sit and relax when you are busy working on something else.
Timeless Hero
Timeless hero is a flash based action-shooter where you play as a tough bunny who is out to save easter. You need to collect all the easter eggs on the map and destroy all the foes you can in this fast-paced action game. Make sure to pay attention to the fast and slow areas of the map and remember there is nothing wrong with dying but keep it to a minimum or your score will being to suffer.
Easter Portals
Easter Portals is a flash-based puzzle game where you have to rotate your portal (Blue) around the circle to catch eggs both from the center and from the red portal which is rotation around the same circular path as you. The portals will start to dispense eggs of different colors, styles, and more than one at the same time. As you progress more portals will be added and this will require you to pay even closer attention to where the eggs are going.
Bladeport
Bladeport is a flash based platformer where you have to throw your blade to teleport to the next platform. If you miss the platform the blade plummets into the water and you lose one life. You have a total of three lives and you need to use them wisely if you are going to make it to the end. You can control the strength that you throw to land on the platform in front of you or skip it entirely.
Bunscape
Bunscape is an HTML 5 based platformer where you play as a Rabbit who is trying to escape from a fox and collect all the easter eggs. This game has an old school feel by using simple graphics, and only allowing the use of a keyboard. Make sure to avoid the fox and no you can’t jump on him (you’re a Rabbit, not Bugs Bunny). Try and collect all the eggs to beat the high score!
Easter Matchup
Easter Matchup is an HTML 5 based game where you have to match up 2 or more eggs in a row and try to beat the high score. The more eggs that you line up the more points that you will be awarded for the row. Meaning two rows of 2 are not equal to one row of 4. The game is rather simple but there doesn’t appear to be any way to increase your time limit which makes it much more challenging to get high scores.
Swap And Escape
Swap and Escape is a flash-based puzzle game where you have to swap places with yourself and boxes in order to collect all the stars and to complete the map. You can complete the map without collecting all the stars but in doing so you miss out on a star for the round. Try and collect all the stars and see how far you can go!
Rabbit Adventure
Rabbit Adventure is a flash-based puzzle game where you have to go and collect the Easter Eggs as a Rabbit. You have to use your carrot shooter, and the seasons in order to collect all the eggs. If you find yourself unable to reach an egg you should shoot a carrot into the wall set the season to winter and then you can use the carrot to jump onto the platform.
Time Blast
Time Blast is a flash based game where you have to kill zombies. You are a time traveling scientist who is trying to save the world. You will have to travel to different time periods to wipe out the Zombie scourge. The more levels that you beat the better upgrades that you can get and the more weapons you will unlock. Can you save the world from certain destruction?
Ninja PvP Easter
Ninja PvP Easter is a WebGL based game where you get to play with others in an open multiplayer world.The game is very solid and gives you several attacks. The main caveat is you are unable to play this game through chrome as it relies on the NPAPI. However, if you spin the game up in Internet Explorer it is quite interesting.
Special Easter For Children
Special Easter For Children is a flash game where you get to design your own Easter Eggs. Think of it as owning a bakery but instead of making cakes you are making stylish Easter Eggs for children. The best part is that you can share your creations straight to your Y8 profile so get out there and start making those eggs!
Easter Ninja Egg
Easter Ninja Egg is a flash-based puzzle game where have to drop eggs on the enemies in order to get rid of them. You need to play intelligently as you have a limited number of eggs and the map has paths for the eggs to follow. Drop the eggs in the position where they will get rid of the most amount of enemies and try to rid the world of those evil eggs.
Arena Shooter
Arena Shooter is a WebGL based action game where you play as a mercenary in a giant open arena fighting against real players all powered by the id.net login system. This game is focused on the FPS aspect of games like Call Of Duty, and other popular shooters. How many kills can you get in a single round? Only one way to find out!
Netherworld
Netherworld is a WebGL turn-based action game where you play as a team consisting of a warrior, water mage, fire mage, and an archer. As you play the game you will have to fight tougher opponents, and the more you fight and win then you can upgrade your troops to be even stronger. You should pay close attention to the stats of your opponents that way you aren’t wasting your attacks.
Rolling Cubes
Rolling Cubes is a WebGL puzzle game where you have to move a cube around a small platform and you need to collect all of the green patches from the platform onto the cube. However, if you move the green patches back onto the platform then you have to pick it back up on another side or you are going to sit there forever trying to get rid of all the green that is on the platform.
Easter Egg Hunt Webplayer
Easter Egg Hunt Webplayer is a WebGL puzzle game where you play as a rabbit that has to collect easter eggs and then escape in a hot air balloon. You need to avoid running off the cliff though so don’t aim for speed in this game focus on getting all the eggs and a slow and steady pace to progress through the levels. The 3D design and graphics are also very important to take note of because if you attempt to roll backward you will find yourself rotation to face that direction and potentially driving your rabbit into the water.
Easter Time Warp
Easter Time Warp is a 3D WebGL adventure-puzzle game where you play as an easter bunny where you have to go and collect Easter Eggs all over the map by teleporting through portals, jumping, and avoiding chickens. You also need to avoid landing in water because you will take 1 heart of damage while you are in there. If you continue to stay in there you will begin to take additional damage.
Where Bunnies Fly
Where Bunnies Fly is a WebGL adventure game where you play as a bunny who is flying through the clouds on a hot air balloon collecting easter eggs and carrots. As you fly you will be able to consume fuel to prevent yourself from crashing into the ground. To get more fuel you need to collect eggs and take them to a rainbow (each egg is 10% of your total fuel) carrots will award you with 100% of your fuel bar.
Zombie Jesus’ Egg Grab
Zombie Jesus’ Egg Grab is a WebGL running game where you play as Zombie Jesus and you need to collect the Easter eggs quickly. The game will move the map and if you are too slow then you will lose, however if you go to fast you might miss eggs or even worse fall off the platform. While the instructions may be simple it’s a little more difficult getting Zombie Jesus’ to stay on the platform than you may think.
Rocket Egg
Rocket Egg is a WebGL space shooter where you play as a Rocket Egg and you are flying through space. You need to destroy enemies and avoid planets, to make it to the next level. As you progress through the game you are going to encounter more enemies, longer matches, and more obstacles to stop you from completing your mission. Make sure to realize you can’t destroy the planets when shooting the only thing you can do is avoid them.
Clash In Space
Clash In Space is a WebGL space shooter where you have to land your spaceship on a planet, and deploy a combination of workers, engineers, and soldiers to get the job done. However, during the landing phase on the planet, the amount of troops you have is determined by the amount of damage sustained during landing. This means if you crash landed you might only have a single person which is a guaranteed loss.
StarJedy
StarJedy is a WebGL space shooter where you fly as an X-Wing and destroy asteroids. If you get hit by an asteroid it is all over, make sure to avoid missing as well as your shots appear to have a lengthy cooldown. Remember while Han Solo made the Kessel run in 12 Parsecs he didn’t do it with as much asteroid destruction as you so take flight and show the galaxy what you have to show.
Attack Of The Easter Eggs Outer Space
Attack Of The Easter Eggs Outer Space is a WebGL defense game where you have to defend your 4 cities from certain eggnilation. You have to destroy the eggs before they dispense too many missiles and overwhelm your defense. If you don’t then all is lost to humanity and you will be under the reign of the easter bunny. Try to time your shots right as they are being deployed to knock out the most targets in the shortest amount of time.
Lay Off
Lay Off is a WebGL game where you play as a mother hen and you need to defend your eggs from those thieving rabbits. If you manage to defend all your eggs you will gain little chicks to help you during the next round. These chicks are capable of slowly destroying rabbits and they are able to keep the rabbits away from your eggs unless there are too many for them to handle. Try to destroy the ranged ones first and then the rabbits with the bags will be easy to finish off.
Easter Blitz
Easter Blitz is a WebGl game where you have to catch falling easter eggs with a catapult and launch them into Gold, Bronze, and Silver goals. When you launch the eggs into these goals you will gain points based on how close to the ground they were meaning that silver is more valuable than all of them, and bronze is the easiest to land the eggs in. Make sure to prevent too many eggs from falling though or your game will be over!
Astrobunny - Past Or Future
Astrobunny is a WebGL based action game where you play as a bunny who is in search of 4 sacred eggs. You have to shoot your way to the top, by learning new abilities, defeating bosses, and by travelling through secret portals in hopes of finding these eggs. Make careful use of your shots and avoid the boss attacks or you are going to be in trouble. Can you collect all the sacred egg pieces?
